This was the fourth title in the franchise and an essential step in the series’ evolution. Back on the Super Famicom (the Japanese Super Nintendo), it introduced a non-linear structure to the series and allowed players to pick one of eight protagonists, each with their own background.

Although your character has their own story, exploring the world can vary wildly depending on the player’s choices. Romancing SaGa also featured the Glimmer system, allowing characters to learn new skills during battle depending on which weapons and skills they use.

While the original SNES game never made it to the west, its PS2 remake came over. In Japan, this was called Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song-and it’s the version getting a remaster.

Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered is releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and mobile via iOS and Android devices on December 1, 2022.
