Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth Gets Debut Trailer Showing Gameplay and Characters

Atlus launched the debut trailer for their dungeon crawling RPG, Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, coming exclusively to Nintendo 3DS on November 29 in Japan.

The trailer shows a surprising amount of gameplay from the upcoming title including character interactions and battle encounters. Additionally, players can get a preview of story scenes which feature characters from Persona 3, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4, and Persona 5. Like in Persona Q, the characters will crossover into each other’s worlds in order to fight back against a common enemy.

Also, the Official Website has been updated to reveal new story information. Evidently, the cast of Persona has been trapped in a world of movies. When the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 become trapped in a movie theater with no exit they are informed by Nagi and Hikari that they’ve just come out of a movie. Throughout the game, the characters will travel to other movies and encounter familiar faces as they look for a way out.

Each movie is a dungeon that represents a different theme or genre of a movie. Players will traverse through the halls and fight enemies through turn-based combat. In battle, players will be able to switch out Personas to hit the weaknesses of enemies and launch special attacks.

Being that Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is developed with members of the Etrian Odyssey team, players must draw maps using the second screen of the 3DS as they journey deeper in the dungeon.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth has not been announced for a western release at this time.

Author’s take: Atlus Japan always knows how to make a stylish announcement. The first time I played Persona Q, I didn’t know about the auto-map feature. My experience with the title as well as the Etrian series has only gotten better since.
