PUBG Mobile Partnerships – Doing the Dew and Bringing BlackPink in Your Area

PUBG Mobile has been making quite a few moves to draw in some new and old players. This week, PUBG Mobile has announced two major partnerships with Mountain Dew and K-pop group BLACKPINK.

Mountain Dew, which has always been a staple when it comes to drinks for gamers (whether it’s through memes or creative marketing), will be showcased throughout PUBG Mobile. Players will find Mountain Dew “Fuel Stations,” available across the game’s newest updated map (Erangel) for a limited time that provides loot during gameplay. And the next time you decide to pick up a Mountain Dew to drink, be on the lookout for specifically marked products to get:

  • In-game prizes: DEW parachute, DEW t-shirt, crate coupons, and 100 BP
  • Additional in-game items that’ll be randomly selected and redeemed through promotional codes on-pack products include Dew t-shirt, Dew parachute, classic crate coupon, 2 x BP card: 1 hour, and 2,000 BP.

Mountain Dew is also also the official beverage sponsor of PUBG Mobile Pro League Americas, PUBG Mobile World League, and PUBG Mobile Global Championship in 2020. You can take a look at their collaboration trailer below.

On a completely different spectrum of collaborations, BLACKPINK is taking over PUBG Mobile for the next few weeks to celebrate the upcoming release of BLACKPINK’s latest record, “The Album,” as well as the exclusive collaboration.

When players are waiting in a game lobby, “How You Like That” will play in the background, and “The Album” will play when the song drops on October 2.

Special themed items and visuals have been implemented in PUBG Mobile to celebrate the collaboration so that players can experience BLACKPINK’s iconic style in-game. Additional visual effects have been added to the PUBG MOBILE main menu screen and loading page. PUBG Mobile’s airdrop plane will be painted pink with the BLACKPINK logo. Exclusive airdrops with themed color and “The Album” icon, release pink smoke as it appears in the popular battlefields starting from October 2.

BLACKPINK member Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé have set up their own personal game account in PUBG MOBILE. By finding their UserIDs on official PUBG MOBILE social media, players can send exclusive collaborative gifts and leave messages to their beloved idols.

The fans who have sent the most gifts till Thursday, October 8, will get special rewards from BLACKPINK. There is also an in-game support event from September 24 to October 8, PUBG Mobile players, and BLACKPINK fans can complete in-game missions to earn support points. By supporting BLACKPINK in-game, players will have the chance to win permanent outfits, including the Adorable Panda Suit and Killer Cadet Set, and even the autographed BLACKPINK’s new album.

In addition to the in-game events, community members can upload their PUBG MOBILE x BLACKPINK screenshots to their social media channels with the hashtag #PUBGMxBLACKPINK for additional chances of winning a signed album.

These are definitely some exciting collaborations to help put eyes back on the long time battle royale. After what happened with the PUBG Mobile ban in India, which had a substantial amount of players, it’s great to see continued support from other brands. Mobile games are no stranger to partnerships across any genre. It’s also a great look to see non-gaming brands appear more frequently in the mix.

Whether it’s music, food, clothing, or any other industry you can think of, a lot of them have been heavily relying on the gaming industry in recent years. We’ll likely see an increase of these sorts of partnerships, with the potential to even spill over into even larger titles. As long as we don’t cross into the territory of brands joining games without a full understanding of the audience and not adding value, more mobile game partnerships of non-gaming brands should be welcome.
