BL Visual Novel ‘Of the Red, the Light, and the Ayakashi Tsuzuri’ Announced for Switch & PC; 2024 Worldwide Release

Publisher dramatic create and developer HaccaWorks* have recently announced that their BL visual novel Of the Red, the Light, and the Ayakashi Tsuzuri will be releasing in 2024 worldwide for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The game will feature support for English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

In case you’re not aware, this BL game was originally released in 2011 for the PC, and was the second game made by the HaccaWorks* doujin group. It spawned a number of media adaptations, such as a manga, a novel, and drama CD. Then, in 2014, there was a version released for the PSP, which included major revisions to the main scenario, and added in full voice acting support, as well as a prequel, and a new ending. Unfortunately, we never saw an official release of either version in the West, making this the first time the game is officially localized.

The story is summated as follows on the official website:

Yue is a young boy, born in a mountain shrine in the town of Utsuwa.
One day, he attends the winter festival together with his childhood friend, a black fox named Kurogitsune.
The lanterns burn bright red, and the people are buzzing. As Yue sees the outside world for the first time in his life, he meets two mysterious boys.
Upon returning to the mountain, the owner of the shrine, Mikoto, told him: “Prepare the ‘meal’.”

Furthermore, the publisher also shared various character renders and their profiles, which you can see below in our gallery:
