Final Fantasy XV Sells Over 10 Million Units Worldwide

Square Enix has announced via the Japanese Final Fantasy XV promotional Twitter account that this latest mainline entry of the franchise has now sold over 10 million units worldwide. This announcement, especially from the Japan Twitter account, was somewhat jarring as the account has been inactive regarding actual tweets for quite a lengthy period of time. This sales amount most definitely includes sales of Royal Edition, which is just an enhanced iteration of the original game.

Regardless, congratulations to Square Enix and the development team for achieving such a significant milestone for this mainline Final Fantasy entry despite its contentious reception. It has been over five years since this title was initially launched, and humorously enough, this sales amount was a long desired goal for the company.

Final Fantasy XVI has been confirmed to be receiving a trailer soon, likely next month.

Staff working from home has made communication more of an arduous process, leading to delayed responses. Most of 2021 was spent addressing these issues, and the Final Fantasy XVI staff team aims to optimize the game as much as possible. The graphic quality, combat mechanics, cutscenes, and more will be the main focused points.

Final Fantasy XVI is releasing for PlayStation 5 at a currently undisclosed time.
