Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory Speedrunner Achieves New PC World Record (2:49:33)

Despite its unconventional shift in genre, the latest entry in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Melody of Memory, does have a dedicated speedrunning community across its various platforms. One of the game’s top runners, PreferredWhale, recently achieved a new world record for the title’s PC version on Proud mode via the Epic Games Store (RTA: 2:49:33). To say this is an impressive feat is an understatement, as this title has been run for well over a year already.

Aside from reaching desired scores and performing well throughout the songs on World Tour mode, the menu-ing is another significant facet of achieving a speedrunning time fitting for high leaderboard placements. Quick world map navigation also plays an inherent role. Since the tracks play on rails, the major time saves arrive in the form of mitigating menu idling and the like.
